Current Projects
- Databasing, photographing and creating distribution maps for a New World revision of the genus Spalangia Latreille (Pteromalidae).
- Capturing scanning electron micrographs of various chalcid taxa.
- Photography of insects using high resolution digital cameras mounted on microscopes and processing using software such as Auto-Montage 5.02 and Adobe Photoshop CS3.
- Identification of most insect orders, and many common families of wasps, flies and beetles
- Mounting, labelling and databasing insects
- Operating a Philips scanning electron microscope in environmental and hi-vac modes.
- Insect Molecular Systematics techniques including extraction of DNA from insect tissue, PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, DNA Purification from solution and from agar gel. Also proficient in contig assembly using Sequencher software.
- Web design & maintenance using Dreamweaver software
