• Ph.D. in Applied Biological Science, major in Nematology from Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (1993).
  
• Masters in Agricultural Sciences, major in Phytopatholgy/Nematology from Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (1989).
• Bachelor in Agricultural Sciences, major in Plant Protection from Northwest Agricultural University of China (1984).
• Bachelor in Science, major in Computer Science from Brock University, Canada (2001).

Current Research Projects

• Systematic and phylogeny studies of nematodes in general, Tylenchida in particular, by using morphological, morphometric, and molecular data.
• Develop key and new techniques in collaboration with scientists from CFIA for identification of quarantined nematodes.
• Provide nematodes identification service required by researches from federal, provincial agents and from universities across the country .
• Curate Canadian National Collection of Nematodes (CNCN).

Expertise

• Biosystematics analysis of nematodes, identification nematodes both by morphological and molecular means .
  
• Soil ecology of nematodes fauna, biodiversity analysis of nematodes in soil.
• Develop and applying bioinformatics tools for nematodes research, data-basing, and data-mining etc.
